Nanocomposites of Carbohydrate Polymers for Hydrogen Storage
摘要
In the past two centuries, the only source of energy that was available to mankind came from the combustion of fossil fuels such as coal, crude oil, and natural gas. Unfortunately, this economy, which is based on fossil fuels, has resulted in several new challenges that we all have to face. Hydrogen production by hydrolysis is a clean and unlimited source of energy that can meet growing energy demands and reduce fossil fuel consumption. Even though hydrogen is seen as one of the most promising alternative energy sources, the difficulty of storing hydrogen continues to be a major one. Most of the researchers are putting a lot of effort into finding novel materials that can store hydrogen. The significance of the catalyst is vital for efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective hydrogen generation. Several semiconductor-based photocatalysts or electrocatalysts have been employed for these objectives. The hybrid approaches combine the benefits of both the chemical and the physical storage techniques. The cryo-adsorption method of hydrogen storage, which makes use of physisorption-based porous materials, is the most renowned example of a hybrid technique. In this chapter, each of the most important methods for storing hydrogen along with the merits and disadvantages associated with each one is discussed in detail.
