Fibrous dysplasia (FD) is a benign skeletal disorder characterized by the replacement of normal bone with fibro-osseous tissue, leading to structural weakness, deformity, and potential pathological fractures. It can occur as a monostotic or polyostotic form and may be associated with McCune- Albright syndrome. Imaging plays a crucial role in diagnosis, with radiographs typically demonstrating a characteristic “ground-glass” appearance, while CT and MRI provide further anatomical detail and assess complications. Although treatment is often conservative, surgical intervention may be necessary for symptomatic lesions or significant deformities. This chapter reviews the pathophysiology, imaging features, differential diagnoses, and management strategies for fibrous dysplasia.
