The data types are diverse and domain dependent. It is thus impossible to provide an exhaustive coverage of data types across the existing domains. However, some general guidelines upon typical data types and their preprocessing are nevertheless possible. In this chapter, a generic coverage of data types, related distance metrics, and their preprocessing are presented.
