This study investigates how construction industry professionals perceive and utilize cement strength class (CSC), specifically exploring their familiarity and consideration with and the influence of CSC on concrete performance. Surveys were conducted with a varied group of industry professionals, such as contractors, consultants, concrete suppliers, and local authority to gather information on their experiences and practices related to cement selection. The results show a strong understanding and proficiency in various CSC, including 32.5, 42.5, and 52.5. Most participants acknowledge that the CSC has a substantial impact on important concrete characteristics and performance. Professionals typically prefer using cement class 42.5 due to its optimal combination of strength and flexibility, making it suited for various applications. Although standardized mix designs such as the Standard mix and DoE mix design are widely known and applied, there is still a significant demand in additional education and training. This interest corresponds to the difficulties described in attaining the specific concrete qualities, indicating a significant disparity between current understanding and the changing requirements of construction projects. This study emphasizes the importance of ongoing professional development and specific training initiatives to improve comprehension and utilization of CSC in construction projects.
