Glycemic Control and Insulin Management: The Role of AI in Glycemic Index Control and Insulin Regulation
摘要
Patients diagnosed with diabetes are required to consistently check their blood glucose levels and make necessary adjustments to their insulin dosages, with the aim of maintaining blood glucose levels close to the normal range. Significant complications may arise in both short and long terms when blood glucose levels fall outside the established normal range. The revolutionary potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in improving insulin management and glycemic control for diabetic patients is addressed in this chapter. It explores the use of AI systems to predict and reduce complications related to inadequate glycemic management. The potentials of technologies like machine learning (ML) and neural networks (NN) to predict future blood sugar levels, predict the risk of problems from diabetes, and predict nocturnal hypoglycemia are investigated. The chapter provides insight into how AI might be used to develop intelligent insulin management systems. The use of deep reinforcement learning for personalized insulin bolus recommendations, machine learning regarding initial insulin estimation, and real-time AI-assisted dosage titration is explored. This chapter further looks at the ability of AI to predict insulin sensitivity and determine the ideal insulin bolus dosages, which could improve diabetes treatment plans. Through the analysis of these features, the chapter emphasizes how AI has the potential to completely transform the way diabetes is managed, promote better glycemic control, and ultimately improve the quality of life for patients.
