Traditional Dietary Approaches for PCOS: A Review of Conventional Dietary Recommendations for PCOS and Their Limitations

Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is deliberated as the most common abnormality found in women of childbearing age. It has been proven that diet can play an important role along with exercise and medication for curating the disease. Likewise, it is essential to focus on the PCOS symptoms to decline weight loss and minimize the risk of getting cardiovascular diseases. However, there is no optimal micronutrient composition that can be followed for the individual who is affected with PCOS. Also, there was a huge influence on individual preferences like culture, habit, and metabolic needs of the patient. There is a need to understand this concept better in terms of discussions happening in the world of literature. Thus, a more comprehensive and detailed approach review is recommended for the PCOS patients. This chapter will also touch on the elements of managing such PCOS in a traditional dietary intake. This chapter presents a comprehensive account of the published literature in the field of PCOS and dietary approaches. The methodology revolves around the bibliometric analysis of the gathered data from Scopus database.
