Field Schools (FS) Effectiveness on Productivity of Paddy Irrigated Systems in Aceh Besar Regency, Indonesia

The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that influence the effectiveness of the field school program implementation and the level of effectiveness of the field school program to increase rice productivity of irrigated rice farmers in Aceh Besar District. The implementation of the field school began to be implemented in 2020 until now in the Montasik District which consists of three villages and five farmer groups with a total of 125 SL participants. This study systematically analyzes the factors that affect the effectiveness of the implementation of field schools (FS) using multiple linear regression analysis approach. This study observed and interviewed farmer members of the field school (FS) using questionnaires and collecting secondary data obtained through literature studies as well as through notes and reports from the Agricultural Extension Center (BPP) involved in the implementation of FS activities. The results showed that there was no effect of age, land area, ownership status, motivation, participation, intensity of counseling, and financial assistance with the effectiveness of the field school implementation program. Education and innovation characteristics have a positive effect on the effectiveness of the field school implementation program. The effectiveness of the field school program has a positive effect on increasing the productivity of irrigated paddy in Aceh Besar District (p ≤ 0.05). Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the factors that most influence the effectiveness of the implementation of field schools (FS) are education and innovation characteristics.
