Although risks are associated with laser use, most of these can be prevented through good training, use of proper protective equipment, and ensuring the safe operation of the laser at all times. KQ 6.2 Postoperative oral bleeding is a common concern following transoral laser or robotic surgery. Transcervical arterial ligation of the external carotid artery or its branches can help prevent postoperative bleeding. KQ 6.3 Complications can arise after surgery for supraglottic or hypopharyngeal cancer when utilizing a laser or robot, resulting in either narrowing or widening of the airway. In this section, we address the issues related to airway narrowing and their respective solutions. KQ 6.4 Following surgery for supraglottic or hypopharyngeal cancer using a laser or robot, the inability to eat is an important concern, in addition to breathing or speech problems. Dysphagia, characterized by difficulties in swallowing, can be categorized into issues occurring during the oral and pharyngeal phases, potentially leading to aspiration and aspiration pneumonia, hindering the passage of food through the esophagus.
