Introduction
摘要
Most fields of human endeavor and corresponding epistemological domain show growth and constant evolution and the sphere of English Language Teaching or more affectionately termed ELT, is no exception to this observation. Since the days when languages were studied as a part of the classical curriculum, pedagogists and teachers have been grappling with ways of infusing more speed and ease into the process of learning and teaching. The voyage from the traditional Grammar Translation Method to the contemporary eclectic Communicative approach is fraught with peaks and valleys in the form of experimentation and action research. Society and language share a synergetic and sometimes proactive relationship which is responsible for the eventful journey of ELT. This voulme explores the phases of this colourful evolution, taking care to document the trends along the way, in order to guide policy planners, teachers and language learners.
