In the information age, effective talent selection is crucial to maintaining business competitiveness, especially in dynamic technology sectors. This study explores the selection of salespeople in a medium-sized technology company, implementing multi-criteria decision analysis approach, specifically the Preference Selection Index (PSI) and the Stable Preference Ordering Towards Ideal Solution (SPOTIS) methods, to improve the transparency and effectiveness of the decision-making process. PSI is used to establish weights in the selection criteria, while SPOTIS helps in aggregating and ranking candidates based on these weighted criteria. The approach proved effective in identifying candidates who not only meet technical requirements but also align culturally with the company. The findings suggest that the PSI-SPOTIS methodology enhances the quality of hiring decisions by ensuring that the most favourable candidates concerning the preferences are chosen to promote organisational success. Moreover, the study contributes to the field by demonstrating the practical application of these multi-criteria methods in a real-world setting. Practical implications include improved transparency and objectivity in the hiring process, which can be particularly beneficial for companies in competitive markets.
