This paper explores the transformative impact of blockchain technology on the maritime bill of lading (B/L) processes. Traditionally, paper-based B/Ls have been integral to international shipping, serving as documents of title, receipts of goods, and evidence of contracts. However, these processes are often plagued by inefficiencies, fraud, and delays. The adoption of blockchain technology promises significant improvements, offering enhanced security, transparency, and efficiency. Through a comparative analysis, this study examines the operational, time-consuming, security, and economic changes in the B/L processes before and after blockchain implementation, highlighting the challenges and benefits of this technological shift.
