Engineering Business Solutions: Advancing SME Competitiveness Through IIoT-Driven Coopetition
摘要
This study examines the integration of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) within coopetition frameworks among SMEs in Portugal’s ornamental stone sector, highlighting engineering systems’ role in business applications. Utilizing the advanced IIoT system, Cockpit4.0+, grounded in Service-Dominant Logic (S-D Logic), this paper evaluates the market performance brought about by coopetition networks. The transition from Current Best Practices (CB.P) to Coopetition Network Practices (CN.P) resulted in a significant increase in conversion rates, from 31.36 to 44.6%, demonstrating the potential of shared technological resources and collaborative competitive strategies. This research underscores the effectiveness of engineering systems in facilitating competitive collaboration, offering a new paradigm for SMEs to leverage technology for competitiveness and sustainability. Future implications and the need for broader studies on technology-driven coopetition across various sectors are discussed.
