The research explores external factors like healthcare, fashionability, connectivity, and lifestyle impacting the intention to adopt and use of wearable devices in the Indian context. We validated this effect using the Technology Acceptance Model 3 (TAM3). Data was collected from 140 respondents, and SEM was performed to gain insights into the intention to adopt wearable devices. The responses were bootstrapped using SmartPLS software. The hypothesized model explained 76.0% variance of behavioral intention (BI), 81.3% of PU, and 75.5% of PEOU. All four external factors were significant and impacted BI and the actual use of wearable devices. There was also a significant difference in the mean BI scores across gender, age, and educational qualification of the respondents. An essential outcome of this research was the importance of healthcare as a significant determinant of adopting wearable devices. This research is anticipated to provide noteworthy insights for scholars, manufacturers on design and connectivity aspects, and retailers to comprehend factors impacting the customer’s adoption of wearable devices.

摘要
