European Paleolithic Art
摘要
For Chinese science majors, “art” may seem to lie beyond the realm of their wildest fantasy; and illogical, sentimental proper names like ‘Palace of Art’ can evoke visions of artists with unwashed faces and cascades of hair. Once a self-proclaimed futurist artist produced a ‘beauty’ with an inch-long triangular head, a smaller than five-inch trunk of unknown sex, square hands and rectangular feet. When accused of not knowing the proportions and shape of the human body and ignoring the principles of the human anatomy, he protested, “You don’t understand. This follows futurist principles.” It is not necessary for us to be preoccupied with such artists and their influence on posterity because the shadow they cast will soon fade away.
