Yunnan Province is one of China’s provinces with the most serious AIDS epidemic and very heavy AIDS prevention and control burden. According to the report of the AIDS Prevention and Control Bureau of Yunnan Province, more than 100,000 AIDS patients and HIV-infected people had been cumulatively reported in Yunnan by the end of October 2012, accounting for about 21% of the total number of nationwide reports, and “the long-standing epidemic needs to be curbed with the efforts of various non-governmental organizations (NGOs)”.
