Opportunities and Challenges in the Synthesis of Geopolymeric Membranes and Their Application in Wastewater Treatment
摘要
Geopolymers received much attention as emerging materials for membrane synthesis over the last decade due to their low price, easy fabrication process, thermochemical stabilities, and wide applications. To enhance or optimize the characteristics of geopolymeric membranes or to endow them with various source materials, alkaline activators, and additives, significant efforts were carried out for the exploitation and application of geopolymeric materials for membrane fabrication. Geopolymeric membranes are combining some key characteristics of organic polymers, inorganic source materials, and additives for their special network structure and received extensive attention from scholars for wastewater treatment due to their favorable and unique characteristics. This chapter highlights the application of geopolymeric membrane and geopolymer composites for wastewater treatment in recent decades. Considering the past research literature and analysis, herein, we will focus to foster further investigations into improving advanced routes for the synthesis of geopolymeric membrane and their application in wastewater treatment.
