In the year 2008, a decree authorizing the unauthorized use of white TV stations (TV White Space), that is, non-local TV channels was issued by the Federal Communications Commission. The TV spectrum consists of the best distribution and efficient spectral features due to the low-frequency range, which leads to a variety of useful applications. However, TV White Space is subject to high frequency, temporary variability, and fragmentation, leading to new challenges in TV White Space identification and the use of wireless networks in this band. The design and identification of the networks are the two most important points that need addressing during the TV White Space investigation. These issues have been discussed in more detail in the few publications available on TV White Space. Applications of TV White Space have also not completely been explored. The proposed study gives insights into the developments in TV White Space domain and its applications.
