This study used the sediment of Kaohsiung Harbor in Taiwan to replace natural fine aggregate for producing controlled low-strength materials (CLSM). Test results show that the slump of the harbor sediment CLSM can range from 200 to 250 mm, the slump flow is greater than 400 mm, and it has available workability. The air-dry unit weight of harbor sediment CLSM ranges from 2000 to 2200 kg/m3, similar to the ordinary CLSM unit weight. When the harbor sediment replaces 30–75% of natural fine aggregate, the compressive strength of the harbor sediment CLSM at 1-day and 28-day ranges from 1.4 MPa to 2.1 MPa and 4.3 MPa to 7.7 MPa, respectively, which is in line with the current CLSM requirements of ASTM D4832. This sediment CLSM has the feasibility of applying in constructions. The chloride ion concentration in harbor sediment is much higher than the requirement of ASTM C1218 in mortar and concrete. It should be taken care to prevent bringing the harbor sediment CLSM into contact with metal materials to induce corrosion.
