The availability of research work on English as a Lingua Franca and materials design has grown significantly in recent times. However, there is a lack of research initiatives combining these areas, especially in Colombia, where textbooks and other English language teaching resources still prioritize Anglo-Saxon dynamics and seem to disregard the importance of English as an international Lingua Franca. In light of these circumstances, the current chapter presents the findings obtained from the implementation of a research project conducted at a public university in Colombia. In general, the study aimed to examine how teacher-generated materials, created under an English as a Lingua Franca stance, could impact a group of 12 pre-service EFL teachers in an undergraduate English language teaching program. By investigating the influence of these ELF-aware materials, this study highlights the potential these have in scenarios where English has traditionally been taught under an English as a foreign language (EFL) perspective.

摘要
