The urgency of climate change demands the development of sustainable urban systems. Although advanced modeling holds significant potential for designing such systems, current tools have two primary limitations: lack of user-friendliness, which hampers accessibility for a broad range of stakeholders, and they struggle to integrate up-to-date climate data, especially regarding extreme weather events. Accurate forecasting is essential for protecting life and property through climate adaptation, mitigation actions, and disaster risk reduction strategies. Dynamic approaches that view cities as evolving systems are crucial for enabling humanity to adapt, survive, and thrive amidst volatile shocks and stresses. This chapter identifies a significant research gap in creating user-centric urban climate modeling tools that seamlessly incorporate the latest urban climate, state-of-the-art for the monitoring and assessing urban climate issues, data integration, sensing, and visualization. The chapter also discusses challenges and provides recommendations for addressing urban climate issues, aiming to formulate effective climate adaptation and mitigation strategies, ultimately benefiting human health and societal well-being.
