Review on Development and Recent Achievements of Origami Robots in Perspectives of Structures, Materials, and Actuations
摘要
Origami robots attract lots of attentions and interests in both academia and industry in recent years. Regarding the creases of origami as revolute joints, many folding structures with potential practical applications are invented, resulting in origami robots that could be utilized in many areas, such as space exploration, micro/nanostructure fabrication, and medical treatment. A brief review on three hot topics of origami research is provided in this paper. The three topics are structures, materials, and actuations. Firstly, structures of origami robots are classified into three kinds, i.e., 2D origami robots, spring-inspired origami robots, and modular origami robots, the main characteristics and typical robots of each kind are listed and reviewed. Secondly, the electroactive material, magnetic material, and other active material that are used to construct origami robots are discussed and compared. Finally, the actuation manners of origami robots are summarized, magnetic-driven robots, piezoelectrical-driven robots, and pneumatical-driven robots are respectively reviewed and discussed. This paper puts forward a brief literature review on the development of origami robots in perspectives of structures, materials, and actuations, which could provide a quick preview of recent achievements in the field of origami robots.
