The real icing data in the natural environment of high altitude area is particularly important for the feasibility verification of the icing prediction model. In this paper, the natural icing tests of six kinds of conductors with different parameters were carried out at the field test station, and the icing growth characteristics of the typical icing type, rime, were explored. The test results showed that the conductor icing in the natural environment is generally non-uniform and the icing on the windward side is more serious than that on the leeward side; Anti-icing coatings will hinder the growth of icing; The slope variation characteristics of the icing thickness growth curve of the conductor are related to the diameter of the bare conductor.
