This paper proposes a novel switching sequence control (SSC) method to achieve precise reference tracking of switching power converters. To illustrate the SSC principle clearly, a simple H-bridge converter is exemplified and the SSC method is applied in this H-bridge converter step-by-step. Compared with the pulse-width modulation, the SSC has a strong capability to deal with a large number of tracking issues for switching power converters. More importantly, the SSC provides a systematic way to accurately analyze the control performance of dynamics and steady-state errors of switching power converters. Simulations and experiments have been implemented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control method.
