Soil Stabilization with Guar Gum and Fly Ash

Stabilization of soil is utilized in regard to the runway, pavement of the road, sub-grade of the railway, and construction of the foundation. Soil is a distinct material. Different geotechnical and structural building works are constructed on fragile, soft, and contradictory soils. This turns out to be amazingly risky in the geotechnical field in light of the fact that such soils are more obligated differential settlements, inadequate shear strength, and high compressibility are all factors to consider. Offering thought to the need of presenting an eco-accommodating and an economic soil balancing out material. The current research investigates the applicability of Gaur gum and fly ash to increase the geotechnical qualities of the soil sample taken from the ‘Hoj’ village of Papum Pare district, Arunachal Pradesh. The analysis was done by conducting sieve analysis, compaction test, Unconfined compressive strength test, and CBR (Soaked and Un-Soaked) by replacing the soil samples with the combination of gaur gum concentration (0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, and 2%) and fly ash (5% and 10%). The potential of stabilized soil rises with the multiply in curing time and concentration, based on the results of a series of UCS experiments on soil samples. Compaction tests were performed on the soil samples without and combining with various proportions of guar gum powder and fly ash to obtain the MDD and OMC. The unconfined compressive tests were conducted at its OMC and MDD, with or without curing on the various combinations. Further, a CBR test was also performed, which yielded better results than a standard soil sample. The amount of gaur gum and fly ash used has a major impact on the strength of the material.
