Highly populated urban areas in the Western Part of Java Island are the center point of many anthropogenic activities that lead to high pollution levels. Increasing pollution is associated with various public health risks, decreased environmental quality, and increased land surface temperature (LST). LST and air pollution are unclear, and studies are often limited to city-based analysis. This study will analyze the relationship between several Major Air Pollutants (MAP) and LST via Ordinary Least Square (OLS) and correlation analysis. Three major indicators of MAP are observed: CO, NO2, SO2, and O3 gasses. The MAP is derived from Sentinel-5P Tropomi measurement, while the LST data is derived from the MODIS sensor onboard the Terra satellite; both satellites have matching spatial resolution, which results in the same scale of analysis. This study used Google Earth Engine (GEE) to derive the respected satellite’s average concentration and temperature in 2023. OLS analysis resulted in multiple R2 values of 0.647751 and adjusted R2 values of 0.645827. Based on these results, MAP explains approximately 64% of the LST in the western part of Java Island. The correlation analysis between MAP and LST shows a strong correlation (CO, NO2, and O3) and a weak correlation between SO2 and LST.
