Effect of Metal Oxide Nanoparticles on Growth and Physiological Properties in Plants and Soil Properties

Due to their distinctive characteristics and useful uses, nanoparticles have drawn a lot of interest. Toxicology and bioavailability, however, are crucial characteristics for their widespread use. Although there are many different kinds of nanoparticles, metal-based nanoparticles, such as those made of silver, zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, and copper oxide, are often employed in agriculture and related industries. Due to their improved physical, chemical, and biological activity as compared to their bulk parent materials, metal-based and metal oxide nanoparticle (MBNPs/MONPs) production and uses have dramatically grown over the past ten years. MBNPs and MONPs can interact with crop plants once they reach agricultural soil through direct or indirect paths. As a result, they represent a risk to both animal and human health through food chain pathways. The origins and behaviors of MBNPs/MONPs in agricultural soil, their physiological and biochemical impacts on plants, their absorption and translocation in crop plants, the variables influencing their interactions with plants, and the uses of MBNPs/MONPs are all discussed. We summarize and analyze the effects of various MONPs types, properties, and doses on plant growth and development under drought stress. Overall, this review will further our knowledge of how MONPs affect plants by reducing drought stress in agricultural plants. The forest tree species that provide food, fuel, medicine, and environmental protection are vital to the existence of both humans and animals. Due to the important components they contain (flavonoids, phenols, and alkaloids), there is interest in employing them in green synthesis to produce environmentally acceptable nanomaterials. With its emphasis on sustainability and ease of use, this technology seeks to produce nanoparticles without producing hazardous byproducts, making it a viable substitute for more conventional techniques.
