Hundred Years of Sociology in India: The Way Forward for Sociology of Sports at Home and the World
摘要
Considering the development of sociology in India over the last hundred years, this study zeroes in on the state of sports sociology in India, a country with a 1.42 billion-strong population and a sports culture that seems to share some characteristics but has received little attention from scholars. Academics from India and other nations may find a multitude of possibilities presented here to conduct additional research. In order to better understand the Indian environment, this research draws on the theoretical work of scholars from Europe and other parts of Asia. One of the many unanswered questions is how parents feel about their children's participation in athletic activities, both as a recreational activity and prospective career path. Public schools in the United States put a lot more emphasis on academics than on physical education, therefore, examining their role in sports is important. This is yet another issue that requires closer examination. In light of this challenge, this study aims to draw attention to potential objectives for a research agenda in sports sociology in India. The insular nature of Indian sports culture, together with the aforementioned issues, discourages youth from engaging in sports and other forms of physical activity. Given this context, the goal of this paper is to shed light on the sociological factors that can significantly impact the growth of our nation's young and physical culture, as well as the advancement of these fields.
