The paper brings out  the impact of conflict on the mindset of people in Kashmir Valley, particularly of the youth, by examining the most unfortunate circumstances in the post-conflict situation. It focuses on the current situation in South-to-North Kashmir, highlighting the significant involvement of youth in various miserable activities, including drug addiction. The influence of conflict in Kashmir has led to an alarming increase in drug addiction among the youth. The paper draws on in-depth interviews and narratives with young people who took to drug addiction and now have overcome it. It sheds light on how the bodies of young adults, collected from the apple orchards, have become a significant point of contention in society. The paper concludes by highlighting the increasing importance of Kashmir Valley since 2008 and the emergence of a new form of conflict from 2016–23.
