The Conundrum of Being a Feminist Pedagogue in a Gender Studies Classroom
摘要
Based on a classroom ethnography of teaching Sociology of Gender over a decade and a half, this paper explores the troubled relationship between feminism and gender. It documents the conflicts and dilemmas that confront a feminist pedagogue and asks why being a feminist sociologist in a gender studies classroom or even a sociology classroom is fraught with all kinds of risks. It is not easy being a feminist teacher. Why are we so apologetic about disseminating feminist messages? Why do we bend over backwards to justify that we are ‘kind’ feminists? That we mean good, we are family-oriented.
