Dalit Movement in Odisha: ‘Castes in Caste’ and the Politics of Partisan
摘要
Dalits are unassertive because of the feudalistic social framework, rigid caste system, and dogmas. The nation-state governance is behind their backwardness, lack of consciousness, and non-mobilisation, which is the fact-based reality of present-day Odisha. An autonomous nation-state of expeditious and inelastic socio-historical moorings of enormous covert and grinding value organisations championed by higher or upper-caste hegemony have succeeded and disorganised them and their mobilisation. The paper makes an apparent effort to analyse the pertinent problems and queries regarding the Dalits of Odisha, such as why a significant Dalit movement has not yet materialised there and how a class of interest came together for mobilisation and assertion in contrast to divided Dalits.
