Pancreatic lesions in children are diverse and could be due to developmental and acquired conditions affecting the gland. The pancreas originates from the fusion of two endodermal buds. An error in rotation, fusion, development, or endocrinological defects results in congenital anomalies of the pancreas. The acquired anomalies are usually rare, but the causes can be variable.
