A Green Lean Strategy to Achieve Sustainable Performance in a Peruvian Plastic Company
摘要
Due to the current increasing competitiveness in globalized markets, organizations strive to produce world-class quality products and services. However, large quantities of hidden wastes are a common component of production processes, which affect both operational and environmental performance. In this study, we used Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to identify the sources of inefficiency. Quality, availability, and work-in-process (WIP) issues were evident. The proposed model was based on Lean and Green philosophies, since the latter has the potential to model eco-friendly processes. At the operational level, an increase in Process cycle efficiency (PCE) and throughput of 17.8% and 16.8%, respectively, was achieved. In addition to this, considerable improvements were reported regarding the three dimensions of sustainability.
