Course Design and Textbook Development for Introduction to Computer Systems Course in the Era of Concurrency
摘要
Nowadays, the demand for concurrency in computer systems is increasing. However, the existing Introduction to Computer Systems course cannot meet the demand for education on designing computer systems that support concurrency. Specifically, the current course has problems integrating theory and practice, as well as keeping up with technological advancements in concurrency. These challenges hinder the Introduction to Computer Systems course from fully aligning with the evolving trends in concurrent system development. This paper addresses these problems by (1) analyzing existing course materials and (2) developing new course content and teaching materials. Subsequently, we conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the new teaching approach from both theoretical and practical perspectives. This paper aims to improve the Introduction to Computer Systems course, thereby providing a more effective education for undergraduate computer science students.
