The construction industry is known for its high accident rate based on a lot of general studies conducted; however, less focus has been given to the informal workers’ experience as it concerns site accidents. This study focused on construction accidents through the lens of informal workers through a quantitative study conducted in South Africa. Data was collected through a structured questionnaire randomly administered among the target respondents. The results from the data analysed on the construction site accidents experienced and witnessed by informal workers were grouped and critically analyzed through factor analysis. The accidents were grouped into four clusters—Cluster 1(High-impact site accidents), Cluster 2 (Posture and muscular accidents), Cluster 3 (accidents through material handling equipment) and Cluster 4 (struck by accident). It is recommended that more attention is paid to the safety of informal workers through the provision of PPEs, safety training, adoption of technology to enhance safety among others.

摘要
