The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on academic organisations worldwide, including those in New Zealand. This study aims to examine the impact of the pandemic on construction-based academics’ quality of life at three academic organisations in Wellington and Auckland, New Zealand. The study collected data through a survey and found that the pandemic’s impact was higher than expected. The study provides a small platform for academics to share their perspectives on what they have been through during this time. As we continue to navigate the post-COVID transition and its impact on students and staff, it is essential to reflect on the challenges faced by academic staff. This paper discusses the implications of the study’s findings and provides recommendations for future research and support for construction-based academics during and beyond the pandemic. The study’s findings have important implications for academic organisations globally, particularly those in the construction field, as they provide insights into the challenges faced by academics during the pandemic and the need for support and resources to help them navigate this difficult time.
