Application of Membrane Technology in Industrial Exhausts Purification

Membrane technology, known for its precise separation capabilities, is widely utilized in various industries, including dust filtration and catalyst recovery. Its effectiveness in removing ultra-fine particles and achieving high filtration efficiencies is particularly noteworthy. The design of membranes with specific pore sizes allows for the selective separation of particles based on their size, making this technology ideal for applications requiring high precision and efficiency. In the field of dust filtration, the application of membrane technology has yielded promising results in engineering applications. It has proven highly efficient in removing particulate matter at both low and high temperatures. In this Chapter, these advancements of membrane technology in industries that generate substantial amounts of dust and gaseous pollutants such as power plants and manufacturing facilities will be overviewed. Furthermore, the application of membrane technology in catalyst recovery, specifically in the recovery of expensive zeolite catalysts, is then followed. Lastly, recent progress on the typical application of ceramic membrane technology in high temperature flue gas cleaning are exemplified.
