Rice husk is an industrial by product of rice and is widely consumed worldwide in various sectors. However, end use of rice husk needs prior proper analytical approaches to analyze its physicochemical properties. Various analytical techniques have been applied including structural, physical, chemical, elemental, spectroscopial and residual analysis. This structured approach confirms the usage of rice husk as a potent bioadsorbent in various food and non food sectors. Its unique thermal properties make it an ideal ingredient to use it as biofuel. High level of fibre (cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin) in rice husk as determined by different analytical tools also helped in understanding its structural conformity. However, there is dire need to study rice husk’s detailed and structured approach through various micro and macro level analytical techniques in better understanding of its composition and ultimates uses on commercial level.
