History of Russia in the 17th–18th Centuries in School Textbooks of Different Years Through the Prism of Sentiment and Topic Modeling Analysis
摘要
The article discusses the results of an analysis of sentiment and thematic emphases in the texts of Russian history textbooks published at different times: in 1971, 1995, and 2014. We consider those chapters of the textbooks which describe the events of the 17th–eighteenth centuries, one of the most unstable periods in the country’s history. The results obtained with the help of sentiment analysis and topic modeling algorithms prove that depending on the time of the textbook publication, institutional authors model different emotional assessments, their sources (facts or opinions), and dominant lexical and semantic rows (themes) while speaking about the same periods of Russian history.
