Properties of Self Compacting Concrete with Replacing Cement with Metakaolin and M-Sand as Fine Aggregate

The present paper illuminates an attempt to substitute the sand with M-sand. The test results of M-sand meet national standard of fine aggregate (IS 383). M-sand doesn’t contain material that may affect strength and durability of concrete such as chlorides, organic impurities. It is free from release of CO2. In the current paper M30 grade of SCC was measured with various substition of river sand with M-sand. Further it is studied that the outcome of METAKAOLIN on the properties of M-sand in self-compacting concrete. The studies comprise the effect of M-sand and METAKAOLIN on the fresh and hardened mechanical properties of SCC made with metakaolin and M-sand. The observation depicted that river sand can be substituted up to 60% with constant W/C ratio 0.38%, the only problem is M-Sand it takes long time to gain strength. If we add the admixtures METAKOILIN by 15% then fixed setting and early strength is possible. It is initiated that 70% auxiliary not reached acceptable results. It is economical when associated to natural sand and trustworthy substitute material in terms of workability, strength, and durability. In the existent test results of experimental work, 100% River Sand substituting various percentage of METAKAOLIN. In the second page, substitution of River Sand with M-Sand for ideal percentage of Metakaolin. The study has discovered that using Metakaolin in the substitution of river sand with M-Sand gives improved flow properties and compressive strength in compression to only M- Sand.
