The influence of learning design on student accomplishment in a blended learning environment is one of the key factors in the success of developing professional information technology (IT) graduates. Within the context of a blended learning framework, this study delves into the planning of a creative industry-based authentic assessment with the intervention of information technology industry specialists. This research discusses the impact made by an industry-based authentic assessment method that can be incorporated as a learning design in any blended learning environment that covers online modules, in-person sessions, and collaborative projects. Through the feedback obtained by the industry mentors and students, the study discerns how industry-based authentic assessment methods can be incorporated as a learning design in a blended learning setting for IT undergraduate courses. The study was carried out with undergraduates of BSc Honours in Information Technology and BSc Honours in Information Technology and Management degree programs at Faculty of IT, University of Moratuwa. The findings provide actionable insights and important recommendations for strengthening essential skills, promoting enhanced learning experiences, increasing academic outcomes, and building necessary professional competencies in students for the IT industry.
