The reporting of incidences of Gender-Based Violence and uptake of services continues to be a challenge in Zimbabwe and beyond. Statistics reported through service providers do not accurately reflect the situation, as survivors still shy away from reporting and seeking services. The study aimed to explore the socio-ecological factors contributing to the underreporting of Gender-Based Violence cases in Zimbabwe, focusing on Hopley and Epworth settlements in Harare. Using Bronfenbrenner’s ecological systems perspective as a theoretical framework, the study triangulated qualitative and quantitative research methods to explore this matter. Data was collected using questionnaires and corroborated with in-depth interviews with victims and key informants. A sample of 307 survivors took part in the study to show the magnitude of underreporting of gender-based violence cases.
