As the world continues to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, it has become more apparent in the continent that what started as a health problem has suddenly become a socio-economic crisis. The pandemic revealed and widened gaps in the social systems and created a disproportionate impact on women, with Nigeria being no exception. Moreover, in the wake of the pandemic, guns are far from silent in Nigeria, considering the activities of the terror group Boko Haram, with unending killings, kidnapping, and suicide bombings ranking the terror group as the worst ever. Hitherto, the feminisation of terror and incorporation of the philosophy of ‘women in war’ further present the destructive nature of Boko Haram in the face of the pandemic. In light of the above, the study will examine various violent acts against women by the terror group amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Such violence includes, but is not limited to, kidnapping for ransom and sex slaves. The goal is informed by the allegation that the conflict has exposed women to various kinds of gender-related violence, and the need for protection becomes necessary.
