Experimental techniques specifically suited to examining the bulk and surface properties of soft matter is briefly discussed in this chapter. While surface tension and contact angle measurements are used to examine its interfacial properties, rheology and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) provides insight into its bulk properties as a function of  temperature. Optical, scanning electron, transmission and atomic force microscopies permits examining the surface texture of these materials that may be correlated to the arrangement of molecules at the surface of these materials.
