The United Arab Emirates (UAE) healthcare insurance system has witnessed vast developments over the last few decades. Adopting and implementing health insurance regulations in the public and private sectors is essential for further progress and for supporting the healthcare system, population health, and future UAE national long-term healthcare strategies. This chapter features the current healthcare insurance status in the UAE and explores the regulatory and structural aspects that shape and operate the health financing environment in the UAE. The challenges, opportunities, and features unique to UAE healthcare insurance are addressed. We aim to better understand the potential growth and advancement in this sector, which supports sustainability and enhances the agility of the UAE healthcare system.
