Abu Dhabi Public Health Center
摘要
Abu Dhabi Public Health Center (ADPHC) is a newly established government entity, created under Law No. 14 of 2019. The center brought together, in a unique setting, both elements of public health and safety by combining and expanding the functions of the former Abu Dhabi Occupational Safety and Health Center and the Public Health Department of the Department of Health, Abu Dhabi. Just a few months after the establishment of the ADPHC, the first case of COVID-19 was reported in the UAE. The ADPHC quickly mobilized its teams to work with local, national, and international stakeholders, contributing positively to the success of the UAE's distinguished COVID-19 response. Given that infectious disease and the COVID-19 response are already covered in another chapter of this book, this chapter focuses on other important pillars of ADPHC's work. These include the Special Outreach Programs Led by ADPHC for the Abu Dhabi Community during COVID response for the educational sector, people of determination, blue-collar workers, senior citizens, and patients with chronic diseases. It also addresses essential public health functions such as surveillance and disease registries, screening, and early detection programs for adults and children. Additionally, It covers major initiatives including mental wellness programs, healthy nutrition and physical activity programs, and cancer combat and control programs. The chapter also highlights the importance of applied public health research.
