Genetic Diseases in the UAE
摘要
Like many Arab countries, consanguineous marriages are widely prevalent in the UAE, and they predispose individuals to autosomal recessive diseases. Furthermore, autosomal dominant disorders due to “de novo” mutations are relatively common, partly due to advanced paternal age, which is also common in the UAE. This chapter presents the common genetic diseases in the UAE, which include inborn errors of metabolism, neurodevelopmental disorders, hemoglobinopathies, genetic skin disorders, inherited skeletal dysplasias, inherited lung diseases, inborn errors of immunity, hereditary hearing loss, and genetic diseases of the eye.
