Women in the United Arab Emirates are holding more leadership roles both in politics and in the public sector. They also have more access to education, leading to a generation of more qualified and competent women. Women’s health services and research in the United Arab Emirates have also increased in the past decades. However, gaps in the prevention, identification, diagnosis, and treatment of physical and mental health conditions remain and warrant the attention of policymakers. This chapter aims to describe the status of women’s health in the United Arab Emirates by shedding light on the available research in this area. Topics relevant to women across the life cycle, non-communicable diseases, and mental health are addressed while giving special consideration to the cultural and demographic context of the United Arab Emirates.
