Pileus 4–10 cm broad, convex to oblate hemispherical, obtusely umbonate at centre, plane in later stage; white or yellowish white, darker at disc, with velar remnants at margin. Context thick, white or yellowish. Lamellae free, greyish white when young, becoming light yellowish brown, eventually dark purplish brown. Stipe 5–15 cm long, 1–3 cm thick, cylindrical, bulbously enlarged at base. Annulus superior, white, membranous, fugacious. Basidiospores 6–9 × 4–5 μm, elliptical to broadly elliptical, smooth, dark yellowish brown to dark brown.
