MXenes, a class of two-dimensional (2D) materials, have garnered significant interest since their discovery in 2011 due to their unique properties and potential applications in diverse fields. This chapter delves into the current technological aspects of MXenes, focusing on their major applications, including sensors, bioimaging, water purification, and environmental remediation. MXenes’ ability to combine with nanomaterials, such as graphene, and their tunable surface properties make them ideal for use in multifunctional materials, such as wound dressings and electromagnetic interference shielding. Additionally, MXenes show promise in quantum computing and spintronics due to their adjustable electrical and magnetic properties. Despite their potential, challenges such as toxicity, stability, reproducibility, and large-scale production need to be addressed. Ongoing research efforts aim to optimize MXenes for specific applications, while future perspectives focus on advancements in biomedical and environmental applications. The chapter also highlights recent patent activities and ongoing research efforts showcasing MXenes’ potential for various technological advancements.
