As one of the most successful applications of parallel robots serving in industrial production, pick-and-place operations that are accomplished by the fast robot counterparts with multiple kinematic linkages in parallel architecture have been paid a number of attentions. This introductory chapter firstly presents the parallel pick-and-place robots in brief, together with the objective of this book, and then, the dynamic control and motion planning of such robots are revisited, where the different control algorithms and planning methods are introduced with the brief discussions. At the end of this chapter, the structural organization of this book are described.
